Water Aerobics

We do Water Aerobics every Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the warm months at our beautiful salt-water pool. It’s an hour-long class that starts at 10 am. Nothing is needed, except to take a quick shower beforehand, show up in your swimsuit and hat, with a towel and something to put on afterwards to walk home in.
You get all the benefits of land exercise, but without the stress and strain on your joints. The water buoys you up, but the resistance the water produces on your muscles gives you just as much exercise as a strenuous workout on land. Some of the benefits of water aerobics for seniors are the following: increased strength (as one ages, muscle loss occurs), Improved heart health, reduced risk of osteoporosis, improved flexibility, reduced risk of falling, improved mental well-being.
Our class here at the Park is a happy experience that is fun and easy. We get to visit with friends while doing the exercises at the level we can perform them. If we want less challenge we can do smaller, slower and less pronounced movements. If we want more exercise we can do larger, faster or more pronounced movements. Everyone can go at their own pace, and there’s no pressure to perform.
The leader will show you the correct moves in the beginning, but then you can just follow the movement instructions and the relaxing music on the CD that’s playing, while you enjoy the healthful sun, blue sky,and fresh air of beautiful Marin.
