We now have a yearlong Google calendar, called the “Marin Valley” Google calendar that shows all the recurring, new, and private events at Marin Valley throughout the year. Click on the thumbnail on the top right side of the home page to see a larger image. You can also import it into your own Google calendar, and all the Park events listed on the Marin Valley calendar will then show up on your own personal calendar. Rather than importing the entire calendar, another feature enables you to select specific events you want to be added to your own Google calendar. You can also sync your Google calendar with the calendar you use on your computer or phone, such as iCal.
INSTRUCTIONS for importing and syncing the Marin Valley Google calendar to your computer and/or phone are available here and below:
There are two options for adding the Marin Valley calendar to your personal Google calendar.
- Import the ENTIRE contents of the Marin Valley calendar
- On your computer, open Google Calendar.
- On the left, next to “Other calendars,” click the + sign, then the “From URL” option
- Copy and paste the following URL in the field provided: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=9gk6g16455d9d47n8gjglc5e18%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America%2FLos_Angeles
- Click Add calendar. The calendar will then appear on the left side under “Other calendars.”
- Check or uncheck the Marin Valley name to make it visible or invisible on your computer.
Note – It might take up to 12 hours for changes to show in your Google Calendar.
- Add SELECT events from the Marin Valley calendar
- Make sure you are logged in to your Google account on your computer.
- Go to the Marin Valley calendar.
- Click on the event you are interested in. You will see a pop up that includes the option “Add Event to Calendar”. Click on that link.
- Your browser window will open your Google Calendar with the details of the event listed and a blue “Save” button at the top of the page. Click on that button and the event will then appear in your calendar.
Note – Recurring events that you individually add to your Google Calendar do not initially show up as recurring events. For those events (typically weekly), you will need to open the choices within the “Does Not Repeat” field and select the weekly option in order for it to appear on your calendar as a weekly event.
Note – Special Events (white text with a solid background) that you add to your Google Calendar show up initially as All Day events. You can change this by unchecking the ‘all Day” checkbox, and then choose the start and stop times in the time fields that then appear.
Syncing with iPad/iPhone – If you have a Gmail account already as part of your iPhone and your Apple mail application, the event will automatically be added to your iCal calendar.
Syncing with Android Device – Once you have imported your Marin Valley Calendar or selected events into your Google calendar, it should automatically sync with your Android device. Google offers the following support page if you are having problems syncing.
Syncing with MS Outlook – Microsoft offers the following support page for syncing your Google Calendar with Outlook.
