January

January —  As is our tradition, we begin the new year with Scottish Night. This is your opportunity to enjoy a delicious dinner while listening to a Scottish bagpiper and singing along to familiar Celtic tunes. This event not only enables our bar manager to express his love for Scotland but also allows the rest of us the annual opportunity to don our wildest and most flamboyant tartans and plaids.

February

February — Mardi Gras provides an opportunity to don our beads and masks, swing to the tope-tapping music of a Dixieland trio, and enjoy a fantastic Cajun-inspired meal.

March

March — St. Patrick’s Day Dinner   It is only appropriate to focus in March on all things Irish with our St. Patrick’s Day Dinner. While it is understandable that our guests don’t always have a kilt or a clan tartan to wear for the Scottish Night, it is far more likely most of us will be able to don something green in order to enter the spirit of the St. Patrick’s event. It is an opportunity to savor a meal of corned beef and cabbage. The Mar Val baristas make their annual appearance to order to serve Irish coffee to the aficionados in attendance.

April

April — TBD

May

During May — Mar Val is provided with the opportunity of sponsoring two social events, one during the first week at Pub and the second a dinner in the last week of the month. Each year we celebrate Cinco de Mayo by offering a Mexican dinner at the Friday Pub closest to the holiday. It could be called Cuatro de Mayo or Tres de Mayo or whatever corresponds to the Friday closest to the fifth of May. The second May celebration is the Memorial Day Party. Summer officially begins for Mar Val with this event, which marks the start of Mar Val’s outdoor schedule for the year, and if the weather permits, we dine al fresco on the deck for the next five months.

June

June — The bar opens at 11:00 a.m. for one day in June because it’s Jazz Brunch Under The Ragtop. Brunch is served at Noon with musical entertainment provided by the Lee Waterman Trio. Critically acclaimed guitarist Lee Waterman’s Trio has a repertoire of hundreds of tunes from the world’s great songwriters including the music of Cole Porter, Gershwin, Ellington, Jobim, and the Beatles. Enjoy a relaxing brunch accompanied along with the cool sounds of acoustic bass, guitar, and tenor sax.

July

July — Celebrate Independence Day, at our BBQ Dinner, with a selection hot off the grill. During July Pub offers a Pasta Night.

August

August  — heralds our annual fantasy trip to the tropics to transport you to the lands of sunny beaches and trade winds. It is once again time to break out the hula shirts, the flower leis, and all the brilliant colors while sipping exotic drinks from the Tiki Bar for our summer tropical Luau.

September

September — marks the conclusion of the year’s schedule of events on the deck with our Labor Day Dinner celebration. The Friday Oktoberfest Pub sometimes gets an early start by not waiting for October and happens in September instead. It features specialty beers in addition to the usual bar along with a special meal in celebration of Oktoberfest.

October

October — The Annual Black Cat Fundraiser and Dinner is also a Halloween party and a chance to wear your most imaginative costume and purchase fabulous desserts.

November

November —  Mar Val holiday festivities start with the Thanksgiving Dinner, the most popular and best attended dinner of the year. You are urged to submit your reservations as soon as possible to guarantee you a seat.

December

December — The first drink at the Holiday Party is complimentary thanks to Mar Val and HOL. Then on the last night of the year do yourself a favor and join in the New Year’s Eve Party for an evening of dining, complimentary champagne, sparklers, hats, dancing, and enjoying the talents of our very own Meadow DJs.
