A prescribed burn is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, and Thursday, October 29, between Bay Vista Apartments and Marin Valley Country Club. The burn will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Smoke is expected to be visible in and around Novato and San Rafael, including to commuters traveling on Highway 101. Residents are asked not to call 9-1-1 to report smoke from this planned activity.

The 10 acre burn will also support an S-219 fire service course, providing firefighters with hands-on training in firing operations and the use of prescribed fire as a vegetation management tool. This training builds skills that support fuel mitigation efforts.

Novato Fire District personnel will be on scene to monitor the burn. An informational booth will be open at the Marin Valley Clubhouse, located at 100 Marin Valley Drive, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days.
