Preventing Anxiety & Depression — A Five-Week Support Group with Dr. Michael Hagerty starts Tuesday, September 10 at 5–6 pm in the Fireside Room
Even strong people can get anxiety and depression.
We have been through the worst pandemic in a century, and our loved ones are dying as we age. These losses can make even strong people depressed or anxious. I was one of the depressed ones.
But clinical trials have shown that two simple therapies can make a happier and more meaningful life for folks: CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and mindfulness. Dr. Hagerty will teach these in the five-week class in the comfort of the Fireside Room.
-
Learn the most effective exercise to increase happiness and reduce anxiety, and it takes only five minutes per day!
-
Learn what advice people in their 80s and 90s would give to their younger selves for a happier and more meaningful life.
Email or call Michael Hagerty to get on the list at 415-755-0035 mrhagerty@ucdavis.edu.
This class works. Previous students say:
“Thank you for the many lessons
I’ve learned.”
“What a gift you offered to our community.”
“I’m so glad you started this group.
We need more like this.”
Michael Hagerty is a retired professor at UC Davis and is offering a five-week course starting in September on how to develop habits that cultivate more meaning and happiness in our lives. He will offer a men’s group on the same topic in October. Contact him at mrhagerty@ucdavis.edu if you are interested.
