Emergency Communications
The success of our planning is highly dependent upon timely, fact-based information, and clear, simple, disciplined communications. The communications team is responsible for:
- Having Block Captains, Zone Chiefs and other MVEST volunteer teams trained in the use of the two-way radios with which they have been supplied
- Identifying and adhering to a simple, “plain English” radio protocol
- Training and exercises in radio operation and use of the selected protocol
MVEST has over 60 hand-held, two-way radios, operating on several channels. A critical element of our program involves residents reporting, and IC receiving prompt, accurate assessments and status updates from throughout the community, and responding appropriately through a chain-of-command to the residents.
