1) WEIGHT – All wall pieces or sculptures must be under 20 pounds. All wall pieces must be delivered wired according to our specifications.
2) PLANTS will no longer be accepted as Art. If a resident wants to put a plant in the Fireside Room It is their responsibility to care for it. Please put a stake In the plant with your name and phone number, so we can contact you if it needs to be removed. Please be aware, the light, temperature and watering are continually changing in that room due to the number of residents that used it for many varied purposes. Plants are continually moved around and have never been happy living there! Do not place your plant on one of the tall long tables in front of the windows they are specifically for Art installations. Only 1 plant will be accepted at any time.
3 INSTALLATION PROCESS- Suzie and David will be on site for all installations. At 10 AM we will begin removing the art that is currently on the walls to make space for the new art that will be arriving.
The Featured Artists display will have David’s diagram, if requested, as to where they want their art placed. Suzie and David will then place the art in the space requested by the artist. This is not an easy process and requires going up and down a ladder multiple times a day, replacing and/or moving from the top horizontal strip every rod that that is hanging vertically on the wall, adjusting the gallery lighting and multiple other factors. Having done this process since the gallery was installed in 2013 it takes all day from 9:30 AM to 5 or 6 PM. Just be aware it is not as easy as it looks!
The Fireside Room displays will be arranged and placed by Suzie and David.
4) LABELS AND PRICE LIST- Suzie and David will have the wall labels and price list prepared for the Fireside Room displays. It is up to the Featured Artist to prepare their wall labels, and price list. No handwritten labels are acceptable.
5) CHECK IN DAY FOR ALL ART INSTALLATIONS – Featured Artist we require a signed waiver with all your information the day of the installation for Suzie and David. This can be filled out on site the same day.
Fireside Room installation day has a check-in station, with volunteers to help you through the process. Please bring your Art wired and ready to hang, waivers are available for you on site to sign and include all the essential information such as title, medium size and contact information. For Featured Artists displays Suzie and David are on site to assist you through this process. All artists can bring one to two pieces for the Fireside Room exhibits.
6) ART SALES – When a piece Is sold we request that the buyer leave it in place, if possible, until the end of the exhibit. If the buyer wants it sooner the artist must replace it with something that works in the same space when the art comes down off the wall.
7) ART RECEPTIONS – If an artist wants to have a reception, they need to reserve the date and time with Matt. It is it is the responsibility of the artist and their volunteers to plan the reception, plan and prepare the food and drink (sans alcohol) and clean up after the reception.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact either one of us through our information in the Marin Valley Directory. Thank you so much for participating to create all the successes and stunning exhibitions we’ve had over the past 14 years in the Marin Valley Clubhouse. We are so fortunate to have you, our talented artists living here!

David Gray. December 2024 Through March 2, 2025
Janet Bogardus March 2 through June 15, 2025
Warm regards to you all,
Suzie Lahr and David Gray
We are announcing our next full gallery exhibit which will be Installed on Sunday, June 15 rather than April 6 as was discussed at that meeting. For those of you that have pieces currently hanging in the Fireside Room they will now remain up until June 15. Please delete April 6 from your personal calendars.
The consensus of opinion by the art advisory committee this week Is that after Janet Bogardus‘s featured artist exhibit we are going to return to full Marin Valley Gallery exhibits in the Lobby and the Fireside Room on June 15th. The current Fireside Room exhibit will remain in place until then.
The Feature Artist Program was a worthy experiment, however only a handful of our artists have portfolios to warrant taking such a large amount of gallery space from our many other Park artists.
We are so grateful to all of you for your ongoing participation in our Marin Valley Art in the Park programs and gallery exhibits over the past 14 years. We are looking forward to seeing you once again on Sunday, June 15 from 10AM to Noon with your creations in hand for our next new full gallery exhibit. Now that we’ve opened up both spaces, each artist can bring in 2 to 3 pieces to include in this exhibit. Suzie, David, Anne and Jae will be there to greet you and check you in.
