POWER OUTAGE 11/16/19 TOWN HALL MEETING SUMMARY—

Regarding Power Outages: In a power outage, we should still have garbage service, working toilets, water, postal service, and gas for gas-operated stoves and for gas water heaters. If you have an existing landline phone, it should still be operational. Cell phone service may be unreliable.

How to Prepare:

Have enough food.

Have a go-bag.

Have at least a week of your critical medications.

Have batteries.

Have plenty of gas in your car (cell phones may be charged from your car).

Freeze containers of water and put them into your refrigerator and/or freezer.

Prepare for your pets, such as having carriers.

Have a battery-operated, crank, or solar radio (the 24-hour radio news station is 106.9). If you buy one, make sure it receives the National Weather Service and SAME.

Have battery-powered lanterns.

Have matches and/or lighter for lighting your stove.

Refer to the MVEST articles in the June and July 2019 Echos.
